Small Business Saturday helps boost local economy

INDIANAPOLIS – Small Business Saturday is a way for shoppers to save money and shop local.

According to data from American Express, $67 of every $100 spent at small businesses stays in the local economy.

Data shows that money is kept in the local economy goes towards things like better wages and benefits for employees and can be reinvested into local businesses.

"You know just for customers to continue to come in and support us all year long. it really does help out make a difference helping us and helping all these people that we serve,” Stacey Petcu, owner of Three Dog Bakery said. "It's just important to keep those small businesses going."

For business owners like Petcu, Small Business Saturday allows them to show people what they have to offer to customers.

As Indianapolis continues to grow, small business owners hope to see more retail space for local businesses.
