INDIANAPOLIS — It could soon be illegal to smoke and vape in parks in Indianapolis.

A City-County Council Committee has approved the proposal that would extend the city's smoking ban. It currently applies to bars, restaurants, and almost all businesses to any public park.

The ban would not apply to city-owned golf courses and driving ranges.

The smoking ban would cover the use of regular and e-cigarettes.

The plan is now heading to the full council.
