SPEEDWAY, Ind. -- Runners, walkers and cyclists will soon have even more space to exercise in the Town of Speedway.

On Wednesday, the Speedway Trails Association received a $1,500 donation from the Speedway Running Club at the Chamber of Commerce luncheon.

The Speedway Running Club runs every Wednesday night and its runners regularly use the Speedway Trails.

Beverly Katterhenry, President of Speedway Trails Association, says the money will be used to finish another 1.3 miles of the Peoria Eastern railroad bed which follows Crawfordsville Road from Main Street.

Half of the trail is currently paved, but only up to Lynhurst Drive, said Katterhenry.

“All the money will be used to pave the other half,” said Katterhenry.

Paving is expected to begin in the spring.

People love to jog, cycle, walk dogs, and just enjoy the trail daily.
