PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- An alert was sent out to parents after a man tried to lure a child into his van Wednesday evening, according to Perry Township schools.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department notified the school system after they received a report of a man trying to lure a 4-year-old into his van by asking if the child wanted a dinosaur.
The incident happened in the area near the Nature Preserve Park in the Glenns Valley area but it did not occur at the school, according to the district.
The child was not injured but the parent did report the incident to the police. It is unclear if the parent was nearby when the attempted luring occurred.
The man is described as a white male in his mid-40s with dirty long, brown hair and a medium build.
He was driving a silver or white minivan described as being around 10 years old.
