U.S. 35 CLOSURE IN WAYNE COUNTY

A couple of projects in the works on U.S. 35 might impact your travels for a number of weeks if you find yourself in Wayne County or going through there often.

U.S. 35 will be closed to through traffic between State Road 38 and State Road 1 for about three weeks starting Thursday, September 14th for construction of a new culvert between Carlos Road and Newman Road.

At the same time, southbound U.S. 35 will be closed at the I-70 Interchange.

During this time, all southbound traffic will be directed to westbound I-70, then to the Centerville Road interchange to access eastbound I-70 and then back southbound U.S. 35 or Williamsburg Pike.

Again, this all begins Thursday, September 14th and is expected to be complete in about three weeks.

STATE ROAD 3 LANE RESTRICTIONS AND SHIFTS

If you live in or around Muncie or New Castle, you'll want to take a listen to this traffic alert: a $16 million pavement and drainage structure preservation project that covers 12 miles of highway between the two cities is shifting to phase two, which means you'll want to be on the lookout for some lane shifts.

The right lanes of both northbound and southbound State Road 3 will be closed between the Muncie bypass and near the Henry County line.

During this time, one lane of traffic in each direction will be shifted onto the recently completed left lane.

Some right turn access to and from State Road 3 and some left turn access across the median may be temporarily prohibited.

This phase two part of the project is expected to be complete this year.

Phases three and four will resume in the springtime next year.
