Labor Day equates to road trips for many, but there are a few area road projects that might impact your getaway route.
SOUTH SIDE EXIT RAMP CLOSURE
One construction project on an exit ramp at two major Interstates could make a large impact on your travel times.
The westbound I-465 exit ramp to northbound I-65 is closed for the next month or so!
You'll want to take the Southport Road exit, and continue on Southport Road until you can return back on to northbound I-65.
Again, this project is going on for the next month, so you'll want to maybe leave a little earlier with the detour to avoid any delays in your Labor Day weekend fun, as well as for your morning and evening commutes.
I-65 LANE SHIFTS
If you live in Lafayette or are planning on heading up toward Chicago this Labor Day weekend, the I-65 lanes near Lafayette are shifted for widening the road.
This is happening between State Road 26 (or Exit 172) and State Road 38 (or Exit 158).
Additionally, just a little south of Lafayette and closer to the city, you'll want to watch for lane shifts near Lebanon and Frankfort for some resurfacing.
These shifts are happening between State Road 32 (or Exit 141) and State Road 28 (or Exit 158).
So, again, these may seem like little projects, but factor in the added traffic heading to Chicago, and your travel times could be impacted by these shifts.
