INDIANAPOLIS -- An upscale eatery will soon call the vintage art deco building that once housed the Chase Bank on 38th Street home.
Acclaimed chef and restauranteur Neal Brown has closed his restaurant Stella on East Street and will open a new eatery - Midtown Brasserie - at 215 E. 38th Street.
“First of all, that building is amazing and I’m beyond excited about the possibilities it offers,” Neal said. “I expect to see a lot of my friends and neighbors coming in to see us and to help make this part of town a vibrant destination spot.”

The 38th Street building was built in 1947 and still has many of the original art deco touches. The building was first known as the Maple Road branch of the Indiana National Bank.
The new restaurant will incorporate the original architecture, vaults and safety deposit areas. Outdoor seating is also planned under the former drive-thru awning and the location has room for 72 parking spots.
A grand opening date has not yet been set.
