WARREN TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- Parents brought their concerns about the lack of air conditioning at Raymond Park Middle School to the school board Wednesday evening and school officials say repairs are on schedule and going according to plan.
Warren Township School Board members had few answers for concerned parents who wanted to know why repairing the school's air conditioning is expected to take up to three weeks and why students are not being excused during days of extreme heat.

"Ya know what I really feel that they have fans they have windows, I know we've had some hot temperatures but I used to work in IPS schools and there was a time we didn't have air in our buildings at all," said School Board Member Gloria Williams. "I don't think that it's an unbearable situation."
A district spokesperson says the chillers were about to go out and replacement work was scheduled to be done in April. The boiler would have to be removed as part of that work.
Because of the cold temperatures in April, they could not risk the children being without heat. As a result, the chiller/boiler work to was pushed back to May.
A district spokesperson has said the repairs had to happen now because if they waited until June or July when the students were out for the summer, they may not be finished by the time they came back July 31 - in the sweltering summer temperatures.
"In the meantime, do whatever you can to make it as best as possible," said Williams. "There was a time in our life when we didn't have the luxury of air and I'm from old school and I remember when we didn't have air in the buildings."
District officials say there have been no medical emergencies related to the heat and they have not seen any spike in absences.
There is still no date for when the repairs are expected to be complete.
