INDIANAPOLIS -- With mass shootings like Pulse Nightclub, Sandy Hook, and others becoming more frequent, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police wants to help the public protect themselves should something happen in central Indiana.
IMPD’s Southwest District will offer a free training course which provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event October 5 at 6:30 pm at Seerley Creek Christian Church.
Participants will also learn about how to respond when trapped inside a building if someone is actively shooting.
“Active shooter incidents are becoming more frequent and are unpredictable and evolve very quickly,” according to officers at IMPD’s Southwest District.
Organizers do not recommend the training for children younger than 14 years of age.
