WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. -- A west side public official has been recognized as the Indiana Trustee of the Year.
The Indiana Township Association awarded Wayne Township Trustee Andy Harris with a plaque Thursday night.
“Andy Harris is a fine example of a Township Trustee who truly understands his mission, has a vision, and has the perseverance to see it through,” said ITA executive director Deborah Driskell. “Whether he is staying engaged with his community by attending hundreds of events and meetings per year, or working to see that all students receive CPR training in school - Andy goes above and beyond the average public servant.”
Harris was elected in November 2010 after serving as a neighborhood liaison under Mayor Greg Ballard.
The Republican is a fixture at countless community events throughout the year including “Breakfast with Santa.”
“I believe as an elected official, if you listen to your community and lead by example, it is easy to get others to follow, and when we work together anything is possible,” said Harris. “I’m proud to represent the west side.”
