Posted

SPEEDWAY, Ind. --  A group of volunteers is helping Speedway homeowners spruce up their yards and homes.

Speedway Home Helpers is gearing up to help residents on Sept. 29 and 30 with yard work, small repairs, trimming and other minor maintenance work.

Speedway Home Helpers is a new program that launched this spring with the help of the Speedway Chamber of Commerce, Speedway Lions Club and the Speedway Community Development Corporation.

The group helped eight families in the spring with their homes.

For the September cleaning, organizers are seeking to help homeowners who are physically or financially unable to improve or keep up their homes.

Local youth groups, Speedway businesses, Lions Club and Chamber members and students will provide the labor.

All volunteers will meet at the Town Annex, 5620 Crawfordsville Road, Suite M at 8 a.m. on the day of work.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves, tools, bug spray and a small cooler with water.

Applications for residents are available online. Click here for more information.
