INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman caught on video earlier this week attacking her neighbor with yard signs is now behind bars.
Three days after RTV6 first shared a neighbor's video of Vicki New tearing up yard signs, hitting them and threatening to kill them police showed up at New's home.
"To me it felt great because it's been a long ride," said Luvia Roman. "I hate to say it this way, but the wicked witch is gone."
Roman says since his video began making the rounds online, he's seen support from all over, including people he didn't even know lived close by.
"I have seen neighbors that I've never seen before," said Roman. "They stopped by and showed support and I really appreciate it."
New said she's never seen the video shot from Roman's cell phone and security camera that shows her pulling out the "No Trespassing" signs and throwing them at her neighbors.
In a phone interview Tuesday evening, New said she was not sorry for what happened and claims the video must have been “doctored” if it showed her hitting her neighbor.
"My neighbor was never struck," New said. "And if it's showing that in that manner it's been doctored."
Despite multiple neighbors reporting harassment and racist tirades, New said she's the real victim.
"He lunged at me," she said.
That same neighbor shared new video Wednesday with RTV6 showing an unmarked police vehicle pulling up to New’s home on Twin Creeks Drive and picking up New and her husband. A short time later, a marked patrol car returns and drops off New’s husband.
"I felt like at first, police weren't taking this seriously. I know for sure that the case was closed," said Roman. "Hopefully it may teach her a lesson, you know, not to do what she does."
New has been preliminarily charged with criminal trespass and battery resulting in bodily injury.
The incidents remain under investigation.
