INDIANAPOLIS -- A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after police say she was struck by a stray bullet while jogging on Indianapolis' northwest side Thursday evening.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene in the 5800 block of Sunwood Drive just before 8:30 p.m. for a report of a person shot.
Police say a woman was jogging in the area when two other people started exchanging gunfire. The female jogger was struck by one of the stray bullets.
She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but police say she is currently stable.
Police have not identified the suspects who were firing shots and they do not have a motive at this time.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
