INDIANAPOLIS -- A young cancer survivor is using her love of dance to help raise funds for Riley Children’s Foundation and Cancer Research while inspiring other children fighting the battle of their lives.
Cierra McCauley was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at six years old.
“Parents should never have to hear that your child has cancer,” said Marci McCauley, Cierra’s mother. “When you hear cancer you think the worst. You don’t think of what the survival rate is.”
“I was scared that I wasn’t going to make it through and that I wouldn’t be able to see anyone again,” said Cierra.
Cierra was born with a love of dance and she didn’t let her cancer stop her from doing what she loved, continuing her classes even while receiving treatment.
“I did a solo and I got on stage without any hair,” said Cierra.
Aptly calling herself the “Dancer Beating Cancer,” Cierra has now turned her love of dance into a movement to raise money for childhood cancer research.
Cierra’s goal is to raise funds and awareness for childhood cancer while inspiring other children who are also fighting the battle of their lives.
“I challenge you to do a dance and donate money to Riley,” said Cierra. If you want to help Cierra in her fight you can upload a video onto any social media outlet with the #DancerBeatingCancer – and you can always donate on her website dancerbeatingcancer.org.
