INDIANAPOLIS -- The head of a local boxing club who called Muhammad Ali a friend is hoping to get a ticket to the boxer's memorial service.
Robert Chambers first met Ali when he came to Indianapolis for a fight under his birth name of Cassius Clay.
In later years, Ali visited Chamber's Riverside Boxing Club, where he'd hang out with the younger fighters.
"He was just a heck of a guy," Chambers said. "He just looked like he played all the time, know what I mean? Just laughing all the time. But his main thing was kids. He loved kids."
Chambers founded the Black Expo Boxing Club in the early 1970s. Twenty years later, the name was briefly changed to honor Muhammad Ali, and Ali took part in the expo.
Chambers says he doesn't think he'll ever see another fighter like Ali.
