INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Central Canal was dyed teal on Monday to help raise awareness of sexual violence in the community.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault hosted the canal dyeing event.

According to ICESA, one of every five women in the United States has been raped at some time in their lives and one out of every 33 men has experienced an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime.
