Indy mother joins campaign against gun violence

Posted

A Central Indiana mother has found herself in the middle of the national debate on background checks for gun permits.

Deandra Yates was on the main stage in Washington D.C. Thursday asking for changes to gun laws. She stood beside Andy Parker, whose daughter Alison was a journalist killed last month by a gunman on live TV.

Call 6 Investigator Rafael Sanchez sat down with Yates before she left for D.C. to talk about her son Dre, who was shot in the head while at a friend's party in 2014.

Watch Rafael's interview with Yates in the video player above.
