UPDATE | Indy Parks originally planned to open Garfield Park Pool and Perry Park Pool this weekend, but said they will not open due to maintenance issues.
Indy Parks will be having a grand opening this holiday weekend.
However, beginning Tuesday the pools will be closed for the remainder of the week due to scheduling conflicts and additional lifeguard training.
The pools will open for good for the summer season the following week.
Indy Parks originally planned to open Garfield Park Pool and Perry Park Pool this weekend, but said they will not open due to maintenance issues.
“Some of our lifeguards are students, so even though our pools are up and running, they’ll be going back to school for the week. Our full summer opening will be the following week,” Indy Parks Director Phyllis Boyd said.
Boyd also confirmed Gustafson Park Outdoor Pool will open next Saturday, June 3.
The pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On Fridays, the pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There will be admission fees between $2 and $5, depending on the pool. Boyd says this is based on pool amenities.
Cards that will save attendees 15% off admission prices can be purchased by calling 317-327-7275.
Boyd says Indy Parks still needs to fill 80 summer positions.
