INDIANAPOLIS -- Over the weekend, people across Indianapolis made an urgent call for change -- a call for peace.
From musicians, to activists to members of the clergy, many people came together to create an action plan of what they can do next after the weekend of vigils and rallies in Indianapolis.
People at Shalom Mennonite Church said they can't find peace in a country that is torn in the wake of violence.
Kyla Franklin attended the discussion to get the chance for her voice to be heard.
"I am proud of my race," Franklin said. I am proud of who I am. I am proud of who I'm becoming."
Some of the issues the group highlighted were police accountability, urban violence. and re-entry policies for ex-convicts.
"Hopefully from this meeting seeds are planted, ideas get out there and some real change can be made," Sheldon Fletcher said.
It's a call the group plans to call on change to extended family, friends and neighbors..
"We're not going to wait till another -- something else happens," Franklin said. "We're going to start now."
The group is planning more small community meetings in hopes that some of the ideas that are shared will make a real difference.
"What can I do, where can I be?" Fletcher said. "You know, you gotta start with yourself."
