INDIANAPOLIS -- In the wake of the deadly shootings in Dallas, two Indianapolis women took it upon themselves to organize a prayer vigil downtown for those killed in Texas, Minnesota and Louisiana.
The women aren't involved with any organized group. They say they were just compelled to do something.
"It's awesome to have so many people interested in it and so many people that want to be a part of it," said Ashley Perryman.
Perryman's effort to organize the prayer vigil started Thursday morning after seeing videos of the police shooting deaths in Louisiana and Minnesota.
"Even though it wasn't my family member or someone I knew personally, it rocked my core to see someone lose their life over something so simple," Perryman said.
So she teamed up with her best friend, Kristin Holden, to organize the gathering and send out Facebook invitations.
"A lot of people are scared, and I understand that," Holden said. "Scared to stand up and make something happen, and so hopefully the fact that me and Ashley are just two girls … just random. We're not affiliated with anything."
