Death investigation underway at Marion Co. Jail after inmate found dead

INDIANAPOLIS -- An inmate has died at the Marion County Jail and the sheriff's office says a death investigation is now underway. 

The Marion County Sheriff's Office was called to the jail around 4 p.m. after Joshua Bellamy, 29, was found unresponsive in his cell. He was pronounced dead by the Marion County coroner. 

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police are investigating the death. 

Bellamy had been incarcerated at the Marion County Jail since his arrest on September 24, he was being held on a parole violation with original charges stemming from dealing cocaine. 

The death is currently being investigated as an apparent suicide.
