IPS offering new program for immigrant students

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana Public Schools officially opened it’s doors to the home of it’s newcomer’s program on Tuesday.

The year-long program serves students in grades seven through nine who are new to the United States.

The kids learn core content while also becoming familiar with American culture.

The facility is on the city’s west side near 38th and Moller Road.

Almost 100 students have joined the program in the past month.

The program aims to expand and serve students from grades three through six by the 2017-18 school year.
