INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Public Schools moved a step closer this week to selling a coveted piece of land downtown.
The district is considering bids from developers who want to buy and redevelop the former Coca-Cola Bottling Plant.
Those bids include a $220 million proposal to turn the space into a 1.3 million-square-foot project called "Indy Square."
IPS owns the 11-acre site. The main building was, at one time, the largest Coca-Cola bottling plant in the world. IPS announced plans to sell the 85-year-old building in July.
The public will have time to look at bids and provide comment. IPS hasn't given a timeline for selecting a winning bidder.
