INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana State Police will send 100 troopers to assist with security for the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, this week.
State police said the request was made through an emergency management assistance compact (EMAC). All of the costs associated with the request will be paid by the Ohio Highway Patrol.
This isn't the first time Indiana State Police have provided troopers to assist out of state.
In 2005, a contingent of 60 Indiana troopers responded to Biloxi, Mississippi, following Hurricane Katrina.
State police also sent troopers to Long Island, New York, following Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
