INDIANAPOLIS -- Counting sheep is a thing of the past – and so is the idea that sleeping with your cellphone is bad for you.
Dr. Yelena Chernyak is a clinical psychologist at IU Health. She's been trying out various apps to help some of her patients get the recommended seven-to-eight hours of sleep they need each night.
Recent studies have found at least a third of adults do not get enough rest. That can affect your health in several ways.
Chernyak shared with RTV6 her top three free sleep-inducing apps: CBTI Coach; Relax Plus; and Sleep Guru.
All three apps are free, but won't necessarily improve your sleep overnight. Chernyak says if the apps don't help, a doctor's visit may be in order.
