INDIANAPOLIS — IU Health Methodist welcomed their first baby of the decade at 7:06 a.m. New Year's Day.
Eliza Genesis Sanchez Rodriquez was born weighing 7 pounds and 14 ounces. Her proud parents, Carmen Rodriguez-Mendoza and Jorge Sanchez are both from Indianapolis and received a large gift basket of baby supplies for delivering the first baby of the new year at IU Health.

Eliza arrived a week early, her due date was January 7.
"So our New Year's plans became going to the hospital," Carmel said.
Eliza is Carmen and Jorge's third child. She has a brother and a sister at home waiting for her.
