JEFFERSONVILLE — Parents of fifth-graders at a Jeffersonville elementary school received a letter this week from teachers explaining a new policy.
The letter parents received explained a no dating policy between students at Riverside Elementary. The school is right on the Ohio River.
Then, the school followed up with an update explaining the original wording was wrong.
School officials have acknowledged parents' worries and say the intention behind the decision to send a letter home was to protect students' feelings and prevent distractions in the classroom.
Even so, many parents are not in support of a no-dating policy between fifth-grade students, saying what you think is young love can prepare you for the future.
Some parents say they can see where Riverside Elementary is coming from. But one mom says the school crossed the line.
