INDIANAPOLIS -- Joe Hogsett is now Indianapolis' 49th mayor.
Hogsett was sworn-in at noon Friday at the Hilbert Circle Theatre.
The public was invited to attend the inauguration.
Hogsett says his priorities include hiring 150 new IMPD officers and creating a domestic violence unit.
"We have a convergence of three crises: crime, the city-county budget, and children who have been all but forgotten," said Hogsett.
"And as one, to quote the poet Maya Angelou... We rise, we rise, we rise." #OneCity
