FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Johnson County Animal Control is offering free pet adoptions throughout the entire month of December as part of their Home for the Holidays campaign.

The animal shelter is offering cats and dogs to approved adopters for no cost.

The society's goal is to have an empty shelter on Christmas with their furry friends enjoying their first holiday in their new forever homes.

Michael Delp, the director of of the shelter, said this is the second year they have run the campaign and last year they did have an empty shelter for a brief time.

Cats and dogs are available, but other pets are available, such as rabbits, gerbils, roosters, goats, pigs and even snakes. All potential adopters must go through the application process, but will have no costs associated with the adoption.

Check the shelter's website here for adoptable pets or call the Johnson County Animal Control at 317-736-3924 for more.
