JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. -- A central Indiana man says he's upset over the conditions of the cemetery where many of his relatives are buried.

Emerson Abbot said the conditions are so bad at Hamner Cemetery that he's considered moving his family members to another site.

The cemetery is south of Franklin off County Road 550 East.

Abbot said his family are distant relatives of the cemetery founder, John Hamner, who was a soldier in the Revolutionary War.

The private cemetery is the final resting place of more than a half-dozen of his relatives, and Abbot said he's had enough of the lack of care it's been getting.

"There's a lot of people that's got a lot of people out here that they love, that they still care for even if they're dead. Somebody still owes them respect," said Abbot.

The cemetery belongs to the Hamner Cemetery Association, who said upkeep takes time and money and they're doing the best they can.
