JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. -- The Clark Pleasant School District in Johnson County will host a community conversation to listen to concerns and develop an action plan after a derogatory post about Sikh students at Whiteland High School was made on social media.
The school board sent a letter home with students in August in which they denounced the social media post, “The action of the student were deplorable and have no place in our schools by students, staff or parents”.
The board says it hopes a community conversation will bring about a better awareness of cultural sensitivity. “Our goal is to listen to your concerns and experiences so that we may then develop actions plans to make our schools inclusive and safe spaces for all students to learn and grow.”
The meeting will be held in the Whiteland High School auditorium on September 12 at 7 p.m.
