FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A Franklin waitress got quite the surprise on her last day behind the counter.
Alexa Nemeth has served up the city of Franklin inside of Court Street Cafe for the past year and 2 months. She started out as a waitress and eventually trained in cooking back in the kitchen.
On Tuesday, Alexa served her last time at the cafe. She is a student at Ivy Tech Columbus and plans to graduate in December. She recently accepted a job in phlebotomy with Columbus Regional Health.
Her last day went like any other: A big group of customers came in to the cafe and she served them.
But what happened after the group left gave Alexa quite the send off to her new career.
A woman ordered quiche and a diet coke. Her bill came to $9.98.
After the group left, Alexa looked at the tip and thought it was a mistake.
The tip totaled $100 - making her final bill $109.98 that day.
Alexa tells RTV6 she asked the store owner if the woman knew it was her last day, or if it was some kind of mistake. She says they didn't have much time to small talk with the group so she doesn't believe the woman knew it was her last day in the cafe.
It was just a good woman doing a good deed without recognition.
Alexa tells RTV6 that she loved working there and loved the people she served each day -- and this kind gesture was a wonderful last surprise to cap off her time at Court Street Cafe.
