GREENWOOD, Ind. – More than 4 acres of land was purchased by the city of Greenwood with plans to expand Westside park.

City officials hope to use the land, located at 859 West Main Street and found just across the street from Westside Park, to expand its trail system and offer other active recreational activities. The land also connects to Pleasant Run Creek.

“We couldn't be more excited to purchase such a nice wooded parcel of land. The proximity to Westside Park and the ability to connect the two green spaces while preserving mature old growth hardwood trees is very important for the Parks Department,” said Rob Taggart, director of Parks and Recreation for Greenwood.

Since the beginning of the year, Greenwood has added over 14 acres of park space and over the years has preserved over 90 acres of land along its creeks.
