GREENWOOD, Ind. -- It is quite a milestone. Margaret Smith turned 102 on Monday.

Smith was surrounded by her two daughters and two granddaughters as she celebrated with birthday cake and some sliders from White Castle at the assisted living facility where she lives in Greenwood.

She was born in 1915 in Henry County and graduated from Knightstown High School.

Smith says she traveled the country and parts of the world.

She raised daughters and sons, worked on a farm, at RCA, and in her own home.

Smith says she started working when she was 16 and that's just one of the many things that have kept her so young.

"I love to dance. Mother danced. That was back when we had dances around different little small towns. And she'd take all of us kids. And I learned to Charleston when I was in the fourth grade," said Smith.

Smith was one of five children. She has a younger sister who is 97 years old.
