GREENWOOD, Ind. – Deputies in Johnson County are asking for assistance in locating a man accused of leaving the scene after a woman was critically injured following a hit-and-run incident.
Detectives with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said 19-year-old Richard Johnson Jr. of Indianapolis left the scene in the 800 block of Leisure Lane on Aug. 7.
The victim told police she was walking along the edge of the street when the vehicle hit her from behind. Deputies said when they arrived, the woman was lying in the street and her shoes had been knocked off.
Johnson’s vehicle is in police possession and was searched after obtaining a warrant. You can see the vehicle the night of the incident in the video player.
Police described Johnson as a white male standing 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. They believe he is in Morgan County.
