JOHNSON CO., Ind. -- If you're looking to find the American dream, you won't have to go far.

Johnson County, Indiana is one of eight counties in the U.S. selected by CNN Money as offering the 'New American Dream."

With a population of around 140,000, median income of $60,835 and an unemployment rate of 5.3 percent, the county is a good place for those in the middle class to settle down.

CNN looked at several factors including quality of life, salaries, crime and poverty rates, education levels, health care, grocery stores and housing affordability.

Johnson County was also selected for its proximity to Indianapolis.

Franklin was noted for having a generous public sector for schools and infrastructure as well as low taxes.
