FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A local dog is adjusting to his new life across the pond.

When Franklin College grads Terrance Delaney and Heather Pasek Delaney met in college, they knew they both had a love for adventure. And dogs. So when they adopted their first pet and moved to Broad Ripple, they named him Franklin in honor of where they first met.

Now chasing their love of travel and adventure, the two made the big move across the globe to England with Franklin in tow. It's been an adjustment for the young pup, but he is adapting to life in the U.K. with his beloved purple hippo from Meijer along for every journey.

Any pet parent knows, a plastic toy doesn't last too long with a puppy.  Heather knew she needed more of the Meijer dog toy to last their stay because Franklin takes it with him everywhere. After seeing the toy out of stock on their website, she reached out to Meijer for help.

The Midwest grocery chain's response was overwhelming. Not only did they contact the manufacturer of the toy but they also sent Franklin a handwritten letter and a huge care package.

"Hi Franklin - Your mom let us know about your big move and how you looked everywhere for your favorite hippo toy. We have all paws on deck here in search of your hippo. In the meantime, we thought you could give a couple different animals a try. Excited to hear about your adventures and hope to be in contact again soon with news on the beloved hippo. Lots of wags, Your Meijer Pet Family"

Franklin posed for a picture with his care package including treats, pig toys, a squeaky duck and a red dog.

The Delaney's say this Meijer customer service is supreme. They are now loyal customers for life after this kind gesture for their dog who is adjusting to a new home. The Midwest and Hoosier Hospitality made a big impact on this local family living abroad.
