INDIANAPOLIS — Shelter animals and workers throughout the state need your help and kindness.

That’s the message of a new campaign launched by Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana called July Acts of Kindness.

All you have to do is something nice for a shelter dog or cat — such as adopt, foster for a day, or volunteer at a shelter — and you can also buy a spay-neuter license plate, or even share a post about an animal on social media.

"Many people don't realize the power that social media has and we see it all around us,” Kristen Lee, spokeswoman for Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana said. “If you share a post about an animal it might reach the right person at the right time. One animal out of the shelter saves a spot for an animal coming into the shelter so you're truly saving a life by just advocating. "

You can also donate money or supplies to a shelter, or just say “thank you” to the people who work there.

“Saying thank you can change someone's life,” Lee said. “They can end their day with a smile so saying thank you is so important whether it's just reaching out on Facebook or stopping by the shelter, donating something and saying thanking them for all they do.”

Make sure you share your July Acts of Kindness on social media and include the hashtag #JulyActsOfKindess.
