INDIANAPOLIS — It took about four hours of deliberations Tuesday evening for a Marion County jury to deliver a guilty verdict in the trial of John Woodcock.
The 37-year-old Indianapolis man was convicted in the shooting death of 40-year-old Heather Mandujano at a house on the city's southeast side in July of 2018.
According to information from the Marion County Prosecutor, Woodcock was involved in an argument with a man identified as Adam Walls at the house in the 1500 block of Barth Avenue.
Detectives say Mandujano, who was also in the house, tried to stop the fight, but ended up shot in the head. She was declared brain dead the same day, but was kept alive three more days for organ donation.
During the argument, Walls was struck by Woodcock with the same gun used in the murder. Two days later, police found the gun along the banks of Pleasant Run, not far from the shooting scene.
Woodcock will be sentenced January 29.
