INDIANAPOLIS — KeyBank announced Wednesday that they will be closing 16 central Indiana branches by the end of May.
The company, which has 35 locations in central Indiana, says the closures are part of a "restructuring plan" to increase market share and give clients a better experience.
Along with the closures, KeyBank is remodeling several other branches and expanding their ATM presence. Starting in March, 33 Kroger locations will provide surcharge-free access to cash with the new ATM's. Another 15 will be installed over the next several months.
“We are deeply committed to helping our communities thrive,” said Juan Gonzalez, KeyBank Central Indiana Market President. “The world of banking is changing with the digital age, and so are the expectations of the customers living it. The growth we are going to create in our digital capabilities is going to make our goal of delivering financial wellness to our clients easier and more convenient than ever before.”
KeyBank is also increasing the number of bankers within the market to more than 90 full time employees and says all current employees at locations that they are planning to close will have the option to change locations.
