INDIANAPOLIS — The Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library in Indianapolis wants to move in to a new home. But that effort may be in serious jeopardy, unless it gets a quick infusion of cash.
The Vonnegut museum tweeted on Monday that it must raise $254,000 by Wednesday.
We need to raise $150k by midnight on Wednesday to create a permanent home for us, and to display art, books and items connected with Vonnegut, including his Smith Corona Space-o-matic 2200 typewriter. If they don't, the organization says it will lose an additional $600,000 that's available to help pay for a permanent home at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
The museum's president says losing out on that money will likely end their efforts to buy that building.
Currently, the Vonnegut museum has part of its collection of material from the Hoosier author at a pop-up museum at Circle Centre Mall.
