MUNCIE Ind. -- A large sinkhole opened up Saturday in Muncie causing city officials to close at least one road and issue a warning for people to avoid the area.
The sinkhole is on McCulloch Boulevard just east of the Walnut Street and Granville Avenue split.
Muncie Mayor Dennis Tyler said the hole is approximately 10 feet deep and 6 feet wide.
City officials spent the afternoon securing the area and filling in the hole with rocks and dirt until they can determine he best way to fix it.
Part of the road will remain closed until the sinkhole is completely taken care of.
