Lauren Holiday, former U.S. soccer star, Indianapolis native and Ben Davis High School graduate, has given birth to a healthy baby girl this week, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, according to reports by the NBA.
Holiday was diagnosed with a brain tumor while pregnant, and her husband, New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday, announced he would take indefinite leave from the NBA to care for his wife.
NBA reports during a media day press conference, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans, said Lauren and Jrue welcomed a baby girl in North Carolina.
Lauren is set to undergo brain surgery to remove a benign tumor in about six weeks.
The former soccer star, who retired from soccer last year, was among the world's most respected players in the women's game during a career highlighted by Olympic gold medals with the U.S. national team in 2008 and 2012, and FIFA World Cup title in 2015.
