Lawrence council approves pay raise for paramedics and EMTs

Posted

LAWRENCE, Ind. -- Paramedics and EMTs in Lawrence will get a pay raise after all following a vote by the city council Monday night.

Beginning immediately, Lawrence medics and EMTs will get a $2-an-hour pay raise, and eventually could get another $2 an hour.

The goal is to help the city keep paramedics.

Recently, the city has been losing EMTs to other areas that pay more. The Lawrence Fire Department is currently down to just one ambulance for 50,000 residents because of funding and staffing issues.
