INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana's Libertarian candidate for governor Rex Bell was admitted to an Indianapolis hospital Wednesday evening after suffering a minor stroke during an event in Richmond.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

His campaign released the following statement through Facebook on Thursday:

While at a media event in Richmond, Libertarian candidate for Governor Rex Bell suffered a minor stroke. After undergoing initial tests, he was transported to Methodist hospital in Indianapolis for further testing.

Mr. Bell is receiving excellent care, even spending the morning joking with doctors and nurses. He is fully aware and coherent, communicating as normal. He is expected a full recovery and to be released soon.

The Bell family is touched by the outpouring of support, and they wish to thank Hoosiers for their thoughts, prayers, and kind words. We continue to ask that the family be allowed to focus on Mr. Bell’s health and a speedy recovery.

Bell, from Hagerstown, is running for governor of Indiana under the Libertarian ticket.
