INDIANAPOLIS -- Thousands of people lined the streets of Indianapolis and Southport to pay their final respects to a fallen hero on Saturday.
Lt. Aaron Allan's was killed in the line of duty last week while trying to help an accident victim. His funeral was held at Bankers Life Fieldhouse and he was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
The procession for Lt. Allan paused outside the Southport Police Department for his final radio call.
"While rendering aid to an accident victim, Lt. Allan was shot multiple times. There is no greater love than a man who will lay down his life for another. Southport Police Department Aaron W. Allan is 10-42. He has gone home for the final time."
The procession then continued through downtown Indianapolis and back to Crown Hill Cemetery where Lt. Allan was laid to rest with more than 2,000 of his fellow officers in attendance.
