INDIANAPOLIS -- A local company provides a much-needed service to families living in Indianapolis’ food deserts.

Jets Grocery and Delivery is a small online grocery store that delivers groceries and hot prepared meals anywhere in the city of Indianapolis – free of charge.

The company accepts cash or EBT from their customers.

Eric Williams is one of the co-founders of Jets Grocery and Delivery, but he also knows what it’s like to want for food.

“I grew up dirt poor, I lived in a car no bigger than this car that I’m delivering in,” said Williams.

He said their goal is to provide transportation or grocery delivery service to families who otherwise have no way to get to the store.

“Not only just to bring groceries, but we’re also delivering hope,” said Williams.

Williams said they purchase the items on wholesale and sell them at the same price you would pay for them in the store, which is how they are able to offer free delivery.

It’s a service Lilian Olden said she is thankful for.

“I know that I can call them and within the hour I’ll have my groceries without having to do anything but make a phone call,” said Olden. “You’re not spending any more money than you would at the grocery store.”

Besides making life easier for families affected by the food deserts, Jets also promises to give 10 percent of your total grocery purchase to the charity or church of your choice.

“We’re using food to solve issues. There’s companies out there that care about the community, and we’re doing everything in our power to bridge that gap,” said Williams.
