LOGANSPORT — An elementary school in Logansport has closed for the week because of the number of students falling ill.

"To maintain the health and well-being of our students and staff, we have made the decision to close Fairview Elementary School," Logansport Community School Corporation posted on their website.

School will be closed through Friday, January 31, with students returning to school on Monday, February 3. Those days will not be eLearning days, the school posted.

"We have worked closely with our custodial department and the Cass County Department of Health in attempts to reduce the risk of illness spreading across Fairview Elementary, but the number of absences continues to rise," the school posted. "Closing the school will prevent students and staff from direct contact with each other and allow the custodial staff to continue to more thoroughly clean and sanitize the school."

No other schools in the district are impacted by the closure.
