PUTNAM COUNTY — If you live in or have ever lived in rural Indiana, you know things are always a little different when it comes to crimes and Wednesday night was no exception.

Deputies with the Putnam County Sheriff's Department were called to wrangle up a couple of loitering cows that were blocking the car wash at a local gas station.

"Nightshift deputies responded to a call of suspicious cows hanging out at a local gas station," the sheriff's department posted on their Facebook page. "The cows were seen hanging out, blocking the lane to the car wash and refushing to leave. To top it all off, they didn't even purchase anything. #Rude!"

Deputies took the cows "into custody" and were able to return them to their owner, and the sheriff's department said no charges were filed.

"Just another day in rural Indiana Law Enforcement," the department joked. "Oh, and please don't tell us the cows were just there to get a car wash. That would be udderly ridiculous."

They didn't stop there, the department made use of the punny situation by sharing some more humor in the comments with community members, "When we took the cows into custody they asked why. We told them "it's pasture curfew."
