INDIANAPOLIS – A student’s life was saved by quick-acting administrators last week.
Longfellow Middle School student Omarion Heart, 13, was playing basketball during gym class when he collapsed and his heart stopped.
His classmates gathered the school nurse and coach to perform CPR while the school principal rushed to get a defibrillator.
The group was able to restart the seventh grader’s heart and he was taken to the hospital.
“I can't thank them enough,” said Kiana Field, Heart’s mother. “I don't have a lot of money to buy them flowers but if I could, I would flood that school with flowers.”
Heart continues to undergo surgery at the hospital.
